I was approached to document Thornbury for a townhouse development project in October.
As I was researching, the trend seemed to be either abstract, single-tone high concept ‘God’s view’, or a retro ‘this is a train station!’ travel-pamphlet type of photography.
In the end, I spent a day walking around the neighbourhood, charting a map of interesting places around the future townhouses, then another day documenting things I would do, talking to shop owners, actually eating the food, as if I were living in that community.
That’s the only way I know how to do it.
