Recently when I tell my friends I got married, their first reaction is to congratulate me.
They then proceed with the question: so WHO shot your wedding?
I’m a lazy person by nature.
I remember a quote by this billionaire about choosing lazy people to do hard jobs because lazy people always find the easiest solutions.
So to answer that previous question, my wedding photographer is Gary.
My friend / first client who flew me to United States to shoot his wedding four years ago.
It was the easiest solution for me.
I get to hang out with a friend from college.
I am familiar with his character and approach to photography.
He understands my body of work.
And I can express my gratitude for soft launching my ‘career’ to complete the full circle, because deep down, I’m romantic like that. *blush*
Most importantly I was relieved from shopping for a photographer.
And other photographers didn’t have to deal with me as a client either.
( Can you imagine the passive aggressive emails? )
Seriously, shooting his wedding had a big influence on my outlook on love, marriage, wedding, and photography.
I lucked out having him as my first wedding client.
So I trusted Gary just like how I wished my clients would trust me on their wedding day.
Just like how he trusted me.
And of course he delivered.
I’m sure he also realised that shooting a wedding is easy; editing is the hardest part.
That’s why he conveniently left the job for me.
Technically, I became my own assistant.
