I’ve been told that you don’t go to Vue De Monde for the food; you go to Vue De Monde for the experience.
And I’ve been told right.
It’s basically a performance: the artists(chefs) present their finely crafted edible visual art over and over again.
And we sadistically destroy the art by repeatedly consuming them over and over again.
One of my wedding couple’s advised me to book the lunch session for two reasons:
1) Better lighting for photos; 2) the sunset towards the end of the meal.
Best advice ever, and possibly best birthday present for the girlfriend ever.

But wait, there’s more.
Realising that it was an occasion, the maître d’ arranged for something special.
One of the Japanese chef came out and showed us around the kitchen.
We had a behind-the-scene, possibly once in a life time tour of one of the most prestigious restaurants in Melbourne.
Ok, NOW I can say it’s the best birthday present ever.
